Billy Boys

Another popular Jack Vettriano posterof four “billy boys” walking on a beach.  Looking like a Sunday afternoon stroll after church.  As always, the signature Vettriano sand and water, sunless sky, that grey feeling, and the faceless people that he paints.  Known as “The People’s Painter”, he does seem to paint only people.

Waltzers

What do we know about the Waltzers?  As usual with Jack Vettriano prints and posters, there is much hidden.  And lots of glamour, beauty, mystery and romance. Behind layers and layers of dancers, where are their faces?  At twilight, only the midnight skies and the black silhouettes and suits show off the deep velvety colors of the gowns.  What a deeply dramatic composition.  Jack Vettriano is an modern, edgy, and cool, and he creates a dark, emotional energy in his studios when he paints.  Thus the resulting artwork, which feels the same.

In Thoughts of You

Such an intriguing grayish scene.  As usual with Jack Vettriano, lots of grays, overcast, intrigue and the sexy faceless girl.  Also simplicity.   While Vettriano paints, he listens a lot to Leonard Cohen who is a slightly dark, very deep voiced singer who, it seems, creates the atmosphere that Jack Vettriano needs to paint the deep, emotional, gray scenes that are his signature.
